We went to Polo today with a bunch of friends, it was a beautiful afternoon! As with most sports, I am more interested in socializing than actually watching the game but either way it's a great way to spend a day outside with good food and friends. Rosebud totally enjoyed herself basking in the sun (don't worry, I lathered her up with SPF 60).
She wore her polo shirt in support of the sport
Her friends the twins enjoyed stomping the divots

Web Browsing
The problem with having a little girl is the shopping. I no longer want to buy things for myself (mostly because I don't have time to go to the mall) but I am tempted to buy something for Addison almost daily. There are so many adorable dresses, beautiful keepsakes, etc. just waiting to be purchased. The web is a dangerous place - I constantly have to keep myself from just clicking and buying! Today I am eyeing several things on Pottery Barns Kids.
So maybe she is a little young to play tea party but how cute are these?!?

I had a jewelry box with a ballerina in it that looked like this, I think she needs one too :)
And she really needs this! Think of all of the cute pictures I could use this as a prop for!

Just What the Doctor Ordered
This weekend I finally got to breath a sigh of relief and get some much needed rest. We had a major fundraiser last week for work and being sick the weekend before did not help my energy levels. It was a tough week but I made it through and this weekend was so good - I let go of my lists (mostly) and just relaxed. We went out for a delicious dinner with friends Saturday night and the baby was on her best behavior (so thankful for that because we weren't at a "safe" chain restaurant). We even got some sunshine on Sunday and we took Rosebud to the park. This week is off to a great start - I am feeling like myself again, work is productive and Rosebud can say "Mama" ... life is good!

I'm an Olympian at heart
Last night I was complaining that we haven't watched any Olympic iceskating yet. The Winter Olympics are only on every 4 years and I am missing my opportunity! I was telling Uncommon Husband how important it will be to watch iceskating when Rosebud gets a little bit bigger. I was reminiscing about how I used to watch the Olympics when I was a kid and pretend I was one of the competitors. I would put on my ballet tutus and twirl around the house imagining I was gliding on the ice doing triple lutzes and such. I also loved taking my batons and pretending they were ski poles (there's a very embarassing video of this somewhere at my mom's house - I was much too old to still be playing that game). You see, as much as I pretend to hate sports I really think I am an Olympian at heart. Then my husband suggested we could actually go iceskating at a nearby rink in Ellenton (where some of the US Team practices!). To which I replied "No, I'd rather watch it and twirl on the carpet. The reality of the ice is much too harsh"
Seriously ... real Olympians can't be bothered with things like ice and cold.
This is my favorite commercial from these Olympics so far.

I don't know how they do it
I was sick over the weekend (notice my lack of blogging lately) and I have to say - I don't know how single mothers do it. How do you take care of little ones when you can barely move yourself? I also don't know how people with chronic illness do it either. I am so thankful today for a husband who helps with everything and for my health! Hopefully I'll be back to myself this week. Today, I feel like I need a nap ...
On a different note, I have to turn on the comment verification again. I keep getting spam comments and it's driving me CRAZY!

Hybrid Pant Shirt

According to Uncommon Husband, he can't hang this up correctly because "it's a weird hybrid pant/shirt where the arms double as legs"

How He Loves Us
If you read Kelly's Korner then you've already seen this but I watched it and thought it was incredibly moving so I wanted to share it as well. Happy Sunday!

Laundry Delinquent
According to Betty (my grandmother for those who might be unfamiliar with Crazy Betty stories), my family is either the dirtiest or the cleanest family she knows. My laundry drives her crazy. For awhile, she was going to daycare on Wednesday afternoons to spend time with the baby. Then she discovered that I work form home on Fridays and if she comes then, she can have uninterrupted time with Rosebud. Every Friday morning she calls me and asks if she can come over "to help me with laundry." She really just wants to play with the baby but I can't fault her there - Rosebud is like a magnet of sweetness. So for the past few Fridays, Betty has been coming over and folding laundry while Rosebud naps. As much as she says she wants to help, she definitely lets me know what she thinks while she folds. Here are some of her opinions, and my responses -
"I can't get over how much laundry you have, you are either the dirtiest or the cleanest family I know"
- yes, we have a lot of laundry. When you factor in work clothes, gym clothes, towels, sheets, baby clothes (sometimes in excess of 2 outfits a day), bibs and blankets - it adds up. We don't change clothes just for the heck of it but when little hands smear avocado on your shirt or spit up on things, you have to wash more.
- If I had time, I would. It bothers me more than you (maybe) when it piles up but there aren't enough hours in the day. My priorities are: baby time, hubby time, cleaning/cooking, sleeping, laundry. (and a little bit of blogging when I can)
- Nope, not going to happen. I know when you had you babies in the 50's, everything was pressed to perfection but I don't have time and don't care if she has a few wrinkles in her dress. By the time you put her in the car seat or down for a nap she's going to get wrinkled anyway. And for the record - Rosebud has never looked "unkempt" on my watch. (the wrinkles we're talking about are marginal at best)
- I doubt that because you continue to tell me about how much laundry my mom let stack up when me and my brother/sister were little. I'm betting there was more with 3 kids. Apparently I am following in her footsteps of being a laundry delinquent.

Weekend Recap
We had a wonderful weekend! I feel refreshed and happy this morning and it's a great way to start the week. I can't say that there is anything specific that happened this weekend to make me feel this way, just a compilation of everyday activities that make me feel warm & fuzzy.
I worked a partial day on Friday and also got a pedicure - it was fabulous! I have had a gift certificate I've been meaning to use since Rosebud was born and never could get a moment to myself to go. Uncommon husband had to work all day Saturday but we ended up having a great day despite the fact that we missed him. My grandmother came over (more Betty stories to come this week as a result) and helped me while I got groceries and spent the afternoon with us. She stayed for dinner and I was reminded how special it is that she gets to spend time with Rosebud. Not many people get to know their great-grandmothers, and Rosebud is fortunate to have her nearby for lots of visits. Sunday was productive - we installed new carseats (Rosebud is growing and loves sitting more upright now), worked on taxes, and ran errands. I had a photo shoot and got some great pics of a beautiful little girl. I have a newborn shoot this week and I am so excited! I also took time to snap some pics of my sweet girl (shocking I know). Life is SO good!

Also - Jami is giving away a Sony Pocket Reader - go enter!!
