I love this commercial, the song makes me want to dance. I just bought it on iTunes. There's some randomness for your Monday night :)

Having a Blonde Moment

Today I was racing around trying to get a million things done while talking to Crazy Betty on the phone. I decided I needed to run out and get something else at the store so I grabbed my keys and hopped into the car. I was still talking as I pulled away from the house when the phone when all staticky and cut me off. Frustrated, I looked down to see what was going on. I was holding my home (cordless) phone in my hand. It's been one of those days.

More Cupcakes

I am surrounded by cupcakes this week. After my pastry shoot and all of the leftover goodies on Sunday and then Uncommon Husband's birthday today. I ordered this arrangement as soon as I saw it in the window of a new cupcake bakery here in town. I could not resist since his world seems to revolve around golf ...

Come back anytime

Little handprints on my sliding glass doors and a stained dining chair are the only sign left of my little visitors. I loved every moment with those little girls. Especially when they kept sneaking out of bed every 5 minutes for just one more glass of water, it annoyed their parents but I loved catering to their requests! They had me from hello ... upon walking through the front door, the tiny one looked up and said "Oh mama, their house is much prettier than ours!" Although I assure you it's not, flattery will get you everywhere.

Works Every Time

Want to know how to make little kids love you? Give them lots of sugar ... I had a photo shoot this afternoon with a friend who is opening a bakery and she sent me home with some amazing desserts. My little houseguests loved the goodies. My white tapestry covered dining chairs now also have lovely blue icing & pizza sauce accents. We realized these should be covered with towels after the fact. Oh well, at least the girls love me - they keep giving me hugs and kisses (I think they are secretly hoping I'll pull out more cupcakes).

Positive Thinking

Well, I am feeling really sucky this afternoon for a variety of reasons. Instead of posting about it and bringing all of you down, I figured I should partake in Fussy's weekly ritual of positive posting - yes, it's supposed to be on Thursday but I need it today. So instead of posting about all of the things that are wrong in the world - the fact that the Yellow Pages salesman has my cell phone number, the horrible housing market, the economy, and people running over their kids with lawn mowers (that was a real story on the Today Show last week). I'm going to tell you why "Life Doesn't Suck As Much As I Thought" (sorry guys, I am in rare form today)

I am thankful that:

1. I am married to the most kind and supportive husband in the world.
2. There are no bugs in my car (there are bugs in one of the vehicles at work and the situation is Gross!
3. I have wonderful friends. I love them (you!).
4. I am not Britney Spears (seriously, it's something to be thankful for)
3. I have a one-mile commute to work so gas prices don't hurt as bad as they could.
5. I don't have to eat sushi ever because I am a grown up and I don't want to.
6. It's Friday.
7. The yellow page salesman doesn't know where I live.
8. My family is super fabulous and I can call my mom and my sister my best friends.
9. If I can't go to the BlogHer, at least I can attend BittHer for free.
10. I have enough.

"I would be embarrassed"

My sister called me this morning and said the weirdest thing.

Uncommon Sister: "Hey, what are you doing"
Uncommon Blonde: "Just eating some granola, what's up?"
Uncommon Sister: "Oh, you must be at home then"
Uncommon Blonde: "No, I'm at work, why would you say that?"
Uncommon Sister: "You eat granola at work?"
Uncommon Blonde: "yes"
Uncommon Sister: "Oh, I would be embarrassed to do that"

What in the world is embarrassing about eating granola at work? I guess that's the difference between being 18 and 27.

In other news, I am taking pics of my friend's newborn this afternoon and I am SOOOO excited. He's 1 week old today. Check out the photo blog later tonight for pics of one precious little boy.

Supa Cool Site

I came across this supa cool website today that donates rice to the UN World Food Program based on your score on a vocabulary quiz. Each word you define correctly adds grains of rice to your bowl. I was kind of impressed with my vocab skillz (I have no idea why I am writing like I am Hip Hop). Check it out here

Uncommon Blonde: Celebrity Edition

Since my last celebrity post was so popular, and because my friend Angelina had twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline this past weekend, I decided it was time for another Uncommon Blonde celebrity edition. Me and Angelina go way back and over the past few years I have spent time with her, Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh. I can't wait to meet the twins, but due to work, I just can't get to France right now. In the meantime, here are some pics of me and the world's most famous family.

Me and Angie at a gala right before the twins were born

Picnic with the kids (I look manic because of all of the paparazzi flash bulbs)

Me holding Zahara (I've been working out, like my muscular arm?)

Angelina congratulating me on my skydiving adventure

Next Blog

Do you ever hit the "Next Blog" button at the top of Blogger blog pages? Well, in a desperate attempt to find some inspiration tonight I started scrolling through other blogs using this link. What I found out was that there are A LOT of really boring blogs out there. I pray mine isn't one that people come across and think "ick, keep going." Please assure me it's not (although if I keep up at this rate I'm headed there).

I found a blog all about a golden retriever named Bernie, a man who blogs about his tie/neckware every day, bad footwear, several in foreign languages, and one called "The World Most" - I think they were trying for World's Most but might not speak English as a first language. All in all, I found not one good blog after hitting that button 20 times. There might be quantity in the blog world but definitely not quality. Speaking of quality, this post lacks it so I'm going to bed (5:30 gym call for me in the a.m.). Hopefully tomorrow will be more inspired.

Is anyone else excited that Big Brother is back??

back with a vengence

My blog needs CPR. I can't believe how badly it's been neglected this past week. In my defense, I have been too busy enjoying time with the people I love to have time to blog about it all (book club, a birthday, a new baby, a bridal shower, out of town guests ...). In an effort to bring some life back around here, I am going to blog every day next week. I need practice for NaBloPoMo anyway, participating last year was challenging but fun. Starting tomorrow, I'm back with a vengence.

Somewhere else

I am glad to see I'm not the only one whose mind is somewhere else. Other people's blogs seem to be a little quiet this week as well. It's weird because it's not that I lack things to blog about, it just seems I have been wrapped up with lots of activites this week and everytime I sit down to post I have some type of heavy topic weighing on my mind. Not bad, just heavy - things like relationships & friends and making the most of the important moments in life, or the environment, the economy, the pictures I need to work on in Photoshop, or babies ... my friend A had her baby this morning and all I can think about today is when I will get to meet her little miracle. Hopefully the next couple of days will be more inspired as far as blogging goes. I'm heading to Boca for my sister-in-law (to be)'s bridal shower on Saturday and off to see the baby later today. Until then, I'll be pondering the great issues of the world. If you have any ideas for a post - I'm all ears

Jolted back to reality

As you may have noticed, I took a little blog vacation and a mini-break in real life too. We made a last minute decision to go visit my parents this past weekend and it was wonderful! Good food, rest and lots of sympathy were the key to a quick recovery from my cold. I was feeling all rested and happy until we got home tonight. We had a lovely note from the police department tucked inside the screen door saying that my car had been broken into on Saturday. Sure enough, there was black fingerprint dust all over the door and the car had been ransacked. The good thing was that they didn't break anything, however, I have no idea how they got into the car (apparently the Lexus anti-theft system isn't that effective). The other weird thing is that nothing seems to be missing. They must have been in a hurry because there are cds and papers strewn everywhere but they left everything from the computer in the back of the car to my Chanel sunglasses sitting in the front console. I'm thankful nothing is damaged or stolen but I am so creeped out. I feel like we live in a safe community and it's a huge jolt to reality when someone violates that sense of security you build around you. Hopefully tomorrow will be a new and better day.

Cottonheaded Ninnymuggins

In case you aren't familiar with Cottonheaded Ninnymuggins, it's a name from Elf (the best Christmas movie ever). That's what I feel like today. I've been away from the blog for the past couple of days because I'm not feeling so good. I have a head cold and it feels like someone stuffed my head with cotton. It sucks. It also makes it impossible to concentrate on anything. I am so exhausted after pretending to feel good all day that by the time I get home I am exhausted and pouty. I need lots of sympathy when I'm sick. We are headed out of town this afternoon so hopefully I'll start feeling better soon, I don't want to be sick all weekend! Hopefully I'll be back to posting as usual in a day or two.

Have a happy 4th of July!
