Not much energy left tonight for a post but I did post a few more graduation pics here. I was full of inspiration when I sat down at my computer tonight but after answering about 20 emails, I am tired. I would hate to use up all of my renewed energy in one day - I have a crazy month coming up! Is it just me or do things just keep getting busier?

I just got back from a much needed mini-vacation. After my sister's graduation, my mom rented a condo on the beach and we spent the past few days relaxing in the sun. I feel so much better! As much as I missed technology and the blog world, leaving my cell phone turned off and laptop in it's case was the best thing I could have done for my sanity. That said, I did miss lots of good blog worthy photos and moments. I saw lots of lobster-red people coming out for more sun (they are just begging for skin cancer - all so they can go home and prove they were actually in Florida), some really good tattoos (try "Part Animal, Part Machine" in huge letters across your back), and some hilarious drunk people (after drinking about 20 cans of beer, the 400 pound man on the lounge chair near mine exclaimed loudly "when I drink liquor, I get buck naked" - in that case, can I buy you some more beer so that my retinas are not permanently scarred?)
Hope you all had a happy Memorial Day!

I haven't had much time to blog these past few days because I have been preparing to go out of town. My little sister graduates from high school tonight! I seriously can't figure out where the time went. We are having a graduation party at my parents house for her in just a couple of hours but before the chaos begins, I had to do a quick shout out to my friend Mrs. Sofa. She made the most fabulous cake for the party! My sister is tickled to death with it and is walking around the house singing about it right now. Not only did she make a "SoFabulous" cake, but I also got to meet her ridiculously beautiful children (and husband) last night when we picked up the cake. It was great to see one of my blogging friends live and in person (I haven't seen her since high school). I can't say thank you enough - check out this adorable cake!
More grad photos to come on the photography blog ... if I feel like blogging from the beach tomorrow!

Who is crazy Betty you may ask? My lovely grandmother of course. Let me preface this story (and the many more to come) with this - I love my grandmother very much. She is a Southern lady, very kind & generous, and we've always been close. That said, she is getting older and seems to be a little more demanding these days. I live in the same city as she does, which results in some great "adventures." You'll see what I mean.
This afternoon she calls me at work. "I can't get in touch with your husband!!" she says, in a voice I would only use if the house was one fire. "Well, he's probably working" I replied. "I need my car, I called the technician and he said it's ready and he's closing in an hour." Liar. They do not close at 3:30, they close at 5:30. But I'm a good granddaughter so I said I'd come and pick her up. Her response - "I hope you can get here, I heard that the whole city is flooded." Sure, it was raining like a monsoon outside but come on, the whole city was not flooded. When I pulled into her driveway and she was standing in the garage, purse in hand. I'm sure she'd been standing out there watching for me for 15 minutes. She gets in and completely disregards the fact that I am on the phone. She just started talking and didn't stop until I hung up. Then the guilt trip started. "I just hate to have to ask for help but I've got to have my car back right away." (why? you are retired!) "I guess I should just establish a relationship with a taxi company." It took all of my patience not to say - "Why because I dropped everything at work, drove through flood waters, and picked you up immediately?" What more did she want, coffee, muffins and a helicopter ride?? Here's the best part. When we drove up to the car place I didn't see her car anywhere. "Where is your car?" and then Crazy Betty said "Oh, he's almost done with it. I'll just run inside and wait."
I am not kidding.

In a couple of weeks I will be hosting book club at my house. While most people would not think about the details for another week and a half, I am already stressed because I don't have it all planned out. OCD much? I will be having everyone over for dinner and dessert. The book for this month was The Other Boleyn Girl (book is much better than the movie) so originally, I was going to try for a medieval theme. The only thing medieval I could come up with was turkey legs and if you know me, you know that there is no way I am eating, much less serving, big old turkey legs. So, I need your help. Any suggestions for what I could serve 7 ladies for dinner? Otherwise, we are having pizza which is fine but my inner Martha Stewart is screaming to make something on my own. (By the way, you get mega bonus points for easy ideas because I do have to work that day too) Seriously, help!

I'm sorry but I've got to go there again. Did anyone else see the NKOTB appearance on the Today Show this morning? Were you as excited about it as I was? I am not embarassed to say that I totally sang along (and danced). Yes, it was a little rough in spots and the dancing was very stiff, "cheerleader-esque" according to Uncommon Husband but seriously, I loved it. LOVED IT. I am still excited about it. I will be rocking the new single in my car this week and probably the old songs too. I don't care if anyone sees me either. I still heart NKOTB.

The magazine article that I mentioned last month came out today. I haven't even gotten my issue in the mail yet but I just got two text messages and a call about it so I know it's out. Although I am a PR person, I don't personally like to have the attention on me - it's my job to promote other people and I'm happy to be behind the scenes. Nonetheless, I am honored to be considered a leader in my community. Here's a link to the intro of the article (it's at the bottom of the page). The actual article lists one of my hobbies as blogging (bet they wish they could find me but I'm incognito).

Did anyone else hear that New Kids on the Block will be performing on the Today Show on Friday?!? I have been singing "The Right Stuff" in my head all day. It's starting to get annoying. But oh how I adored NKOTB back in the day! I used to wear my t-shirt to the skating rink on Saturdays and I even had the dolls. I'd post a picture but fortunately for me, those are safely stored away in a cabinet at my mom's house. Although I know they grew into dysfunctional adults, I still can't help but be curious about the reunion. You can bet I'll be singing along with the TV on Friday.

We are have new carpet put in this morning and this is the conversation that took place as I was leaving for work:
Uncommon Blonde: "Don't forget to talk to them about the seams ... and tell them to be careful with the furniture ... and call me with updates!"
"I hate that I can't be here to be involved"
Uncommon Husband: "You mean that you hate that you can't be in control"
I hate it when he's right ...

Today while reading some blogs written by mommy bloggers, I thought to myself that having kids would make my life so much more entertaining. It also made me feel exhausted because it seems to take so much energy to deal with all of their crazy antics. For today, I'll take boring dry cleaning drama (over a shirt that would be ruined if I had to deal with spit-up and baby food) and just enjoy other people's funny kids from afar. When will I ever stop observing and jump into the fray?
Check these out:

My clothes have been found and they were at the dry cleaners after all! I went in, pictures in hand and asked them to search for my missing shirts. (By the way, Lindsay they recognized you) He searched their records and found the order but said I had picked it up in February. I stood my ground and actually asked to personally go through the huge spinny rack. Low and behold, I found the order. Not only the shirts but two others tops and two fabulous pairs of pants that I had forgotten about! I'm so happy!!!

I was reading about OPAM on Tara Whitney's blog (love, love, love her photography). OPAM stands for "One Project A Month." I thought this was a great idea and was going to jump on board when I realized that this month I have soooo many more projects than just one. We are getting new carpet on Friday which means EVERYTHING has to be moved. it sucks. It also means that after this weekend my house will be more organized than it has been since we moved in and will look all fresh and new!
In other news, my dry cleaner steals my clothes. Uncommon Husband says I blame them too easily but there is no other explanation. They are some of my favorite items of clothing and I am freaking out. I know no one cares but I'm distraught about this so this is what you get today. I wonder if they'll let me go through every item in the spinny rack to see if they are in there somewhere? And no, they are not in my closet, my car, or at someone's house. They have been stolen. i think.
Wanted: the shirts Uncommon Blonde is wearing in the pictures below. REWARD

Book club night is always a great place to pick up new quotes for the quote book. Tonight's winner:
(talking about one of our friends) "She used to make out with lots of boys in clubs. But in a wholesome way of course."
After that, we followed everything up with "in a wholesome way"

I am obsessing to the point of major distraction. For the past week or so, I have been experiencing pain in my forearm. This tends to occur when I am on the computer - especially my laptop. This weekend it seemed to get worse, or else I am just thinking about it waaayyy to much (a distinct possibility). Either way, I am now in full blown obsessive mode that I might be developing carpal tunnel. I even dreamed about it last night! I have changed my chair at my desk today (so far a good move) and bought a wrist rest for my keyboard. Every time I think about blogging or getting on to read blogs, I wonder if I am doing permanent damage to my arm. Any tips or cures out there? Help!

Once upon a time there lived an Uncommon Blonde who worked in the land of nonprofit. One day she received a grant opportunity for new computers. Uncommon Blonde diligently filled out the paperwork and wrote a compelling story in hopes that her organization would be chosen as a recipient for this wonderful gift. Lo and behold, her grant application was approved and she was notified that she would be receiving 36 new computers. She was instantly promoted to rock star status and all of the people in the land (office) cheered. The morning came to pick up these wonderful gifts and off she rode in a big white chariot (van). When the castle (warehouse) doors opened, the girl was dismayed. Giant monitors and ancient pcs greeted her as far as the eye could see. "New" computers meant someone's old cast-offs. She graciously accepted the gift with crushing disappointment in her heart. Her rock star status was tarnished and she had a load of junk to get rid of. It was a sad, sad day in the land.
What the freak!!!!!!!
